SEAT digital service record: how to check it in Ireland
SEAT — and Cupra, which was split out of it as a separate brand — record main-dealer servicing digitally against the VIN in the shared Volkswagen Group dealer system. The record is the same shape as a Volkswagen's or a Škoda's, and it is retrievable the same way.
Where the record actually lives
When a franchised SEAT dealer services a car, the visit is written into the manufacturer's central system — the Digital Service Schedule — against the vehicle's 17-character VIN. The entry records the date, the odometer reading, the work carried out and which dealership did it.
That has a useful consequence: the record belongs to the car, not to the owner. It doesn't disappear when the service book goes missing, when the car is sold, or when it crosses a border and gets new plates. Digital coverage is reliable from roughly 2012 onwards and strongest from about 2019. Because the SEAT dealer network in Ireland is smaller, a no-records result more often reflects independent-garage servicing than a gap in the data — and you are not charged when nothing is found.

Why this matters in the Irish market
SEAT sells in smaller numbers in Ireland than Volkswagen or Škoda, which cuts both ways for a buyer: the franchised network is smaller, so more servicing ends up at independents and never reaches the manufacturer's system — but where a car has been dealer-maintained, the record is just as complete as its VW Group siblings.

SEAT models on Irish roads
Ibiza, Leon, Arona and Ateca are the volume models in Ireland. Cupra-badged cars (Formentor, Born, and the Cupra versions of the Leon and Ateca) may appear under either badge in the record depending on build year, since Cupra only became a standalone brand in 2018 — if a search looks thin, that transition is a common reason.
What this report is not
Worth being plain about, because two different products get confused here. This is the maintenance record. It does not include NCT test history, and it does not include finance, write-off, stolen or insurance-claim status — those are separate records held by different bodies, and an Irish vehicle history check from a provider of that data is the right tool for them. Plenty of buyers run both.

The SEAT was imported from the UK — will it still have a record?
Usually yes, and it's often the fuller record. Service history is held against the VIN, so a car serviced by UK franchised dealers keeps that history after it is imported, VRT is paid and it goes onto Irish plates. The paperwork frequently stays behind with a previous owner; the manufacturer's record doesn't.
Does the report include NCT history?
No. We return manufacturer and main-dealer service records — the maintenance history. NCT roadworthiness test history is a separate record held by the RSA and is not part of this report.
Will independent garage servicing show up?
No. Only work logged by a franchised SEAT dealer reaches the manufacturer's system. A car genuinely maintained by a good independent can come back with little or nothing — which is why the check is free unless records are found, and why a thin result is worth asking the seller about rather than treating as proof of neglect.
