What a Cupra report can look like
Manufacturers don't all keep the same detail, so reports come in four shapes. We've opened the one you're most likely to get. Every entry below is made up; a real report lists the Cupra's own visits.

Cupra and its dealer records
Cupra is the performance sub-brand of SEAT, part of the Volkswagen Group. The Cupra Formentor, Born, and Leon are widely sold. Full digital service records are available through VW Group systems.
How Cupra's digital service record works
CUPRA UK uses the VW Group dealer management system shared with VW, Audi, Skoda and SEAT. Records are held centrally against the VIN with the service date, mileage, schedule (Fixed / LongLife), itemised line items, the dealer code, and free-text remarks. CUPRA was officially launched as a standalone marque in 2018 — pre-2018 CUPRA-badged SEAT records (Leon CUPRA, Ibiza CUPRA) are usually retrievable under either name in the system because they were originally logged as SEAT. The CUPRA Connect app shows recent services for newer cars; the dealer system holds the complete record. Records persist across dealer ownership changes because the database is centrally held by VW Group.
Where to find your Cupra service history
A car's history is usually spread across a few places, and it is worth checking each one.
- Cupra's dealer system. Every franchised Cupra workshop logs its visits against the car's VIN. A Cupra dealer will usually print them for the owner; anyone else, a buyer included, can use the check on this page.
- The Cupra owner app, where there is one. Newer cars linked to an owner's account may show recent services there, but only to that account holder.
- The paper service book. Stamps from dealers and independent garages alike. If it has been lost, a replacement from the manufacturer arrives blank.
- Independent garage invoices. Work done outside the dealer network only exists on paper, so ask the seller for the folder.
Servicing a Cupra: intervals and models
Cupra service intervals
Cupra follows VW Group servicing. Fixed servicing is 12 months or around 15,000 km; variable (Longlife) servicing runs up to 2 years or 30,600 km. Which applies is set per car, and Longlife is not available on every engine.
Intervals vary by engine, model year and schedule type — check the car's own handbook or service plan for the figure that applies to it.
Cupra models we cover
Full UK CUPRA range is covered: CUPRA Leon (Mk4 from 2020), CUPRA Leon SportsTourer, CUPRA Ateca (from 2018), CUPRA Formentor (KM, the brand's first standalone model), CUPRA Born (electric Mk1 from 2021), CUPRA Tavascan (electric from 2024), plus pre-2018 SEAT-badged CUPRA variants (Leon CUPRA Mk2 / Mk3, Ibiza CUPRA Mk4 / Mk5). The performance-focused CUPRA range overlaps mechanically with VW Golf R, GTI and Audi S3.
Things to watch when buying a used Cupra
CUPRA shares its powertrain extensively with VW Golf R / GTI and Audi S3: EA888 2.0 TSI petrol engines, DSG / DCT transmissions, Haldex AWD on 4Drive variants. Specific things to verify: First, the DSG / DCT fluid change — every 64,400 km on the 6-speed DQ250 (fluid and filter) and every 128,700 km on the 7-speed DQ381 — matters on the high-output 4-cylinder turbo variants. Second, Haldex AWD oil service every 3 years on 4Drive Formentor / Leon Estate / Ateca variants. Third, oil-service interval discipline matters because the EA888 engine is highly stressed in CUPRA tune — verifiable LongLife or Fixed service entries in records are essential. Fourth, on Born and Tavascan electric models the high-voltage battery health check should appear annually as a workshop entry.
Why check Cupra service history before buying
CUPRA resale value is heavily influenced by documented dealer history because of the high-output stressed engines in the petrol range. FSH typically adds 10-12% to trade-in over partial-history equivalents. For 4Drive AWD models verify Haldex AWD oil service appears at the right mileage. For DSG cars verify the transmission fluid change (64,400 km on the DQ250, 128,700 km on the DQ381). For Born and Tavascan EV buyers verify the high-voltage battery health checks appear annually to extend battery warranty cover.

FAQ
Common questions about Cupra service history
How do I check Cupra service history online?
Type the car's VIN into the form on this page. We ask Cupra's dealer system for every visit logged against that car and show them in date order, usually within a few minutes. It costs €12.99, and the card is only charged if records come back.
How complete is Cupra coverage?
Cupra sits in our Full Service History tier. Itemised dealer records: the date of each franchised visit, the odometer reading, what was done and which dealer did it.
Where is a Cupra's service record kept?
CUPRA UK uses the VW Group dealer management system shared with VW, Audi, Skoda and SEAT.
What will I see on a Cupra report?
Each visit a franchised Cupra workshop logged against the car, listed by date: the odometer reading, the work carried out and the dealer who did it. Recall and warranty visits appear alongside routine servicing.
Why might a Cupra with a stamped service book show no records?
Usually because the servicing was done at independent garages, which don't write to Cupra's system, or because it was done before the dealer network kept digital records. A book full of independent stamps can be perfectly genuine; it just has to be backed by the paperwork rather than by the dealer system. If we find nothing, your card isn't charged.
Do I need the owner's permission to check a Cupra?
No. The VIN is all we need: no log-in, no ownership documents and no contact with the seller. That's why people use it before they buy, to compare what the seller says with what Cupra's dealers recorded.
How do I tell whether a Cupra was serviced on time?
Put the dates and readings side by side and look at the spacing. Cupra follows VW Group servicing. Intervals differ by engine and model year, so the handbook has the exact figure for a given car. A gap much longer than the schedule is worth asking the seller about: it may have been an independent service with an invoice in the folder, or it may have been missed.
Is there a free way to see Cupra service history?
Sometimes, if you are the keeper. A Cupra dealer will often print the history at the service desk if you bring the car's documents, and some Cupra owner apps show recent visits for the car linked to your account. Neither helps a buyer looking at someone else's car, and we know of no public Cupra website that shows the whole record. Our €12.99 check needs only the VIN, and the card is only charged if records are found.
Does CUPRA have its own service records?
Yes. CUPRA maintains its own service records through the VW Group dealer management system. All franchised dealer visits are logged against the VIN with date, mileage, line items, recall work and software updates.
Can I check CUPRA service history online?
Yes. Enter your CUPRA registration number and we retrieve full service history from the VW Group manufacturer system, including dealer visits, recall work, and warranty repairs.
What CUPRA models are covered?
All CUPRA models are covered, including Leon, Leon SportsTourer, Ateca, Formentor, Born (electric), Tavascan (electric), plus pre-2018 SEAT-badged CUPRA variants like the Leon CUPRA Mk2 / Mk3 and Ibiza CUPRA.
How are pre-2018 CUPRA records handled?
Pre-2018 CUPRA-badged SEAT models (Leon CUPRA, Ibiza CUPRA) can usually be retrieved under either SEAT or CUPRA in the VW Group dealer system because they were originally logged as SEAT.
Does DSG / 4Drive service matter for CUPRA?
Yes. Wet-clutch DSG transmissions need a fluid change — every 64,400 km (with the filter) on the 6-speed DQ250, every 128,700 km on the 7-speed DQ381 — and the 4Drive Haldex AWD coupling needs an oil service every 3 years. Both appear as specific line items in dealer records — verify they're present at the right mileage on used 4Drive Formentor or Leon Estate examples.
Are battery health checks logged on Born and Tavascan?
Yes. The annual high-voltage battery health check on Born and Tavascan EVs is recorded as a workshop entry. The 8-year battery warranty depends on this being completed at a CUPRA / SEAT dealer.
How does service history affect CUPRA resale?
CUPRA resale is heavily influenced by documented FSH because of the high-output engines. FSH typically adds 10-12% to trade-in value over partial-history equivalents.
How to read a Cupra service history
A list of dealer visits only helps if you know what to look for. Three checks cover most of what goes wrong with a used Cupra's paperwork.
Line the visits up against the schedule
Look at the spacing between visits rather than the number of them. Visits roughly a schedule apart point to a car that was looked after. A long gap is a question for the seller, not a verdict, because the service may well have been done at an independent garage.
Make sure the odometer only goes up
Each visit records the reading on the day. A figure that falls back between one visit and the next is worth questioning before anything else.
Ask about the years the dealer didn't see
Dealer records stop once a car leaves the franchised network. For those years, ask for the invoices from the garage that did the work and check that the dates and readings on them fit with the rest of the history.
